Sunshine On A Cloudy Day

What it do people! As for me, all is well in the ATL, but I have to admit that all this rain has me yearning for some sunshine.  Speaking of sunshine, did anyone catch that Jill Scott concert last week! The skies were overcast, however Ms. Scott certainly did not fail to enlighten her audience with her  glorious presence! That voice, those lyrics, that smile would brighten up any gloomy day. Backed up by Georgia's own Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, she belted out popular songs such as: He Loves Me, Is It the Way, Insomnia, Long Walk, Golden and many more! From the moment she stepped on stage it was as magic! As Her strong soulful voice carried throughout Chastain Amphitheater like rolling thunder,   the crowd lingered on her every word.

I remember being first introduced to Jill back in high school. As me and my girlfriends vibed to her Words and Sounds volume 1 album, I  can still vividly recall how  much we were moved and inspired to find that special someone with whom we could also "Take a long walk... around the park... after dark." Yes, even back then Ms. Jill had me feeling some type of way, and after all these years her sound has remained just as authentic and genuine.

Below are some pics of the concert! And yes, Ms. Scott turnt it all the way up!

Welcome to Naturally Atlanta

Buenos Dias fellow Naturalistas!  It's me, Cherry Curl, and I am excited to bring to you Naturally Atlanta, the blog that keeps you up to date on all of the hottest fashion, entertainment, and natural haircare resources that Atlanta has to offer!

I have been a resident of Metro Atlanta for over 20 years and have witnessed the natural hair scene grow from being  practically non-existent to surprisingly booming in just a short period of time. It seemed as if suddenly, many brown skin beauties decided to trade in their once chemically over processed locks for the freedom that comes from a healthy head full of God given texture. As a result, natural haircare salons began popping up all over Georgia, and many local beauty supply stores began stocking up on natural hair products. Even popular  chains, such as  Kroger, CVS, and Target have jumped on the natural haircare bandwagon. Yes, the Afro era is back but in a new and improved way!

In addition to having many options and means for a sista who wants to keep her do fresh, Atlanta is also a city that never falls short on providing a smorgasbord of entertainment and shopping! From Lavish boutiques and thrifty consignment shops to year round music concerts and park festivities, yes, Atlanta has it all!

Keeping this in mind, I thought to myself, how great would it be to create a site that  not only educates inquisitive minds on how to  achieve and maintain healthy, naturally curly hair but also captures the diversity and essence of the city of Atlanta, my home town. Well, I did it! And I hope you'll enjoy checkin' in each day to see what's new, what's hot, and what's Naturally Atlanta!

Below are some pics of some of my favorite spots. Maybe I'll see you there one day:)

Ah, yes Atlanta! Take in it's beauty!

The fabulous Fox Theater. Simply Majestic inside!

The Varsity! The greasiest and yummiest onion rings in town :)

Centennial Olympic Park! One of the best places to cool off during the summer!

Piedmont Park! One of my favorites places to go and clear my head.

Little 5 Points! I'm addicted to this place! If you like people watching, thrifting, shopping at unique boutiques and good food, or if you're just a weirdo like me...then you'll love this place!

The Georgia Aquarium is definitely a must see! The Sea Otters are adorable :)

Atlantic Station...All I have to say is shopping, shopping, shopping!

Underground Atlanta. A location full of historic richness.

This Mural gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. I remember when it was first painted back in the early 90's. As my parents drove by, I used to pretend that the whales were real..cheesy right :)
